Where does sod come from?

Sod is grown on a sod farm. Farmers grow thousands of acres of sod that they harvest, roll and prepare for sale. The entire process of turning seed into a roll of sod typically takes 12-18 months.

Is sod a good investment?

Yes! Sodding is often the first thing investors will do when they are flipping a property. A bright green will dramatically increase the value and curb appeal of your home.

How long should I wait to fertilize my lawn?

This is dependent on the season your sod was installed. During warmer temperatures, it is ideal to wait 6 weeks before fertilizing your lawn. During cooler temperatures, it is ideal to fertilize your lawn 4 weeks after installation.

Seeding vs Sodding

Professionally installed sod will provide a bright green lawn from the day it’s installed, whereas a seeded lawn will take years of nurturing to reach the maturity that resembles the beautiful appearance of sod.

How do I maintain my sod?

Water and fertilize your sod according to the season. Mow your lawn every week and never cut more than 1/3 of your grass in a single mow.

Should I keep my dog off new sod?

After we have installed your new lawn, you will want to protect it from your dog. The issue with dogs and freshly laid sod is that they will urinate on your sod. Some dogs are also prone to digging which will damage the sod.

How long should I wait to aerate my lawn?

We suggest waiting 1 year after installation to aerate your lawn. 

How often should I aerate my lawn?

A lawn should be aerated 1-3 times a year depending on soil conditions. Lawns with clay soil will require more frequent aeration. 

How much does it cost to install new sod?

On average the cost to sod a residential lot will range from $2.10 a square foot to $6 a square foot. The key factors in determining the cost of new sod are the overall size of the project, access, grading, and soil quality. 

Do you have a project minimum? 

Yes, we have an $1800 project mininum. 

How much does it cost to have mulch installed?

On average the cost to install mulch will range from $2-$4 a square foot.

How much does it cost to have decorative stone installed?

Depending on the type of stone and overall size of the project, decorative stone can cost as little as $3 a square foot and go up to $30 a square foot.  

How much does it cost to remove interlock?

Interlock removal ranges from $4 a square foot to $7 a square foot depending on access and the dept of the base material. 

How much does it cost to install Interlock Pavers?

On average, the cost to install pavers will range from $20 a square foot to $40 a square foot. The key factors in determining the cost of pavers are the overall size of the project, access, grading, type of pavers being used, the complexity of the pattern, and soil quality. 

What brand of pavers do you recommend using? 

We recommend using Unilock and Techo-Bloc Pavers. 

How much does it cost to install Flagstone?

On average, the cost to install flagstone will range from $50 a square foot to $120 a square foot. The key factors in determining the cost of a flagstone patio are the overall size of the project, the perimeter of the project, the type of flagstone being used, and if the installation requires us to pour fresh concrete.

What brand of flagstone do you recommend using? 

While there are several different brands of flagstone to choose from, we always recommend our clients to use Banas Stone or Oakville Stone. These two brands ensure ethically sourced natural stone which has proven its quality through the test of time.
